Don't Get It Twisted
Notes
Stormcatcher favours the Alchemist The Alchemist warned us of this⦠A stormâs a-cominâ "Don't Get It Twisted" is my best effort at making an interesting Mono-Vortox script. Normally, a script with a Vortox centres around the question of if there's a Vortox in play or not. This script's challenge is all about figuring out when the Vortox's ability is active. The Poisoner, Alchemist-Poisoner, Goon, Monk, Mastermind, and of course the Summoner, can all create scenarios where the Vortox ability turns off, and Assassin, Godfather, Tinker, and Gossip can all hide nights of no deaths to further confuse the good team. To compensate, Good has a host of strong abilities to detect the presence of a Vortox on some nights, and to get good information in spite of the Vortox. Evil will have to play aggressively and bluff bold info to convince the Good Team that their info is wrong, since the game becomes likely to be solved by Good given time and a passive evil team. For example, the Alchemist possesses the strongest world-building info of any Townsfolk, but is Stormcaught, making it an easy frame and a potent bluff for evils. Storytelling Notes: - Design wise, the Stormcatcher favours the Alchemist for three reasons: 1. It makes sense theme-wise. 2. Alchemist is a strong role in this script, but an equally powerful bluff, so giving it to minions for free (when not in play) encourages an aggressive Alchemist bluff. 3. Most of all, due to the Summoner jinx, an uncareful Alchemist-Summoner or a lucky Assassin/Godfather can kill the Alch early and end the game in an unexciting way. To aid with this, make it clear to your players that the Stormcatcher protection supersedes the Assassinâs power (i.e. an Alchemist who was targeted by an Assassin doesnât die). If for some reason you wan't to run without the Stormcatcher, go for it. It won't break the script, though I do believe it's better with than without. Keep in mind that if the Vortox ability is active on N1, the Alchemist must learn a Minion ability they do not have, but then be woken/interacted according to the ability they actually have. (i.e. Alchemist learns âMastermindâ, but is actually the Godfather, and learns some Outsiders on N1). You can also mimic this behaviour when the Alchemist is poisoned. Fisherman advice should be, generally, very strong. A Fisherman should be rewarded for having a good pulse on if itâs a Vortox day or not, and using their ability accordingly. Usually, Vortox'd fisherman info should not be outright wrong (so that way good can easily reverse it and make useful deductions), but simply unhelpful or difficult to interpret correctly. The Dreamer can, and sometimes is encouraged to, dream Evils as Good roles they are not bluffing. Keep in mind that If town thinks the Vortox ability is active every day, it's detrimental to Evil for them to be dreamed as they role they are bluffing. If thereâs a Vortox and Mastermind +1 alive in F3, and the Vortox is executed, you technically have to go to sleep and wake everyone up with two alive. You may allow this, but the town can instantly deduce whatâs happened and either skip or execute the Demon again. You may do this as a formality, or simply rule that the Mastermind ability deactivates in F3. I generally suggest giving the Alchemist a not in play ability, but you donât have to. You may tell your players of this, but you donât have to. STâs choice. Youâll want to run speedy days. Some players might want to execute the player executed the previous day out of Mastermind paranoia, and if you give the good team too much time to talk & solve theyâll get a big advantage. Script is SnV-like and should be treated as such. An Alchemist-Summoner has to be woken on N3 to choose a Demon (which is always Vortox). Itâs important to do this step to confirm to that player that they are actually the Alch-Summoner (assuming theyâre not poisoned on that night). [changelog] v1.0.1: -Fortune Teller, +Flowergirl FT info is a little too strong, since it can kind of detect Vortox nights and get info about Demon Candidates. Flowergirl is a more balanced alternative with the possibility for one night of Vortex-poisoning to ruin the info.
