Following some thoughts recently on characters I don't use enough on scripts I wanted to look at building something a bit different as well as revisiting some concepts that I had worked on in the past, but didn't flesh out fully or was dissatisfied with the execution of. That combined with thoughts I was having about the F3C Script Competition. So I set aside my contempt for a few tokens (and indulged in the joyful contempt present in others) to arrive at something very different from my usual style. At the core I wanted to think about some of the Vizier interactions that I love (especially the Vizier executing their demon to pass to a Scarlet Woman) while highlighting the power of the Vizier to play on town's uncertainty and confusion. Building around Vizier can be very difficult due to a need for other minions to be mostly quiet or mostly loud. I want SW on the script, so I need them to be quiet. That means no Psychopath or Harpy or Cerenovus. I don't want more poison, so no Poisoner. That left me with Wizard, Marionette, and Spy of which Marionette seemed the most acceptable and useful. Boffin didn't have enough to do so it got discarded. No Dashii gives some misinfo cover in non-Xaan games, which is fine. Imp is necessary because I quite like the Vizier being alive in the endgame with the possibility of a star pass. The other character I wanted to build around is the Bounty Hunter (which I mostly have contempt toward). Vizier counters outed or suspected Bounty Hunters very effectively, but it does have a powerful info that mostly wants to be disrupted in the mid-to-late game. This means Xaan can be effective for tripping up the BH as can a Barber swapped or SW passed No Dashii (position dependent). I also wanted some really interesting townsfolk evil turns such as High Priestess, Fisherman, Oracle, and Juggler who might use their abilities to help them locate teammates. Version 1.0.1 Notes Edit: A few people have brought up the question of why Mathematician is on the script to me since they will only get low numbers. When I was working on this I thought demon type detection was somewhat important on the script since a big part of the puzzle centers around the interrelationship between Bounty Hunter, Xaan, Vizier, Cannibal, and Ojo. A major balancing factor was centered around managing the power level of the Bounty Hunter. Remember that any single night unique Mathematician number on nights 1-3 can be either a Xaan or No Dashii which means the ST can usually give a Bounty Hunter misinformation once, but not twice when they are No Dashii poisoned. I wanted the Mathematician to force the Storyteller to sometimes give the Bounty Hunter good information even when poisoned. The Mathematician also lets the town know when a Sweetheart poisons an ongoing role in the mid or late game, which is a strong piece of the puzzle. Finally, Mathematician can differentiate between Soldier protections and no-kill Ojo misses, which can make a Soldier bluff more precarious for evil.
